8th Greater Serengeti-Mara Stakeholder Forum

The 8th Greater Serengeti-Mara Forum was held on the 9th -11th of January at Lobo, Serengeti. The annual meeting brought together 48 key conservation managers, decision makers, and scientists from Kenya and Tanzania, offering a unique space for cross-border dialogue on the future of this iconic ecosystem. 

This years discussion covered seven core themes:

  1. Serengeti-Mara overview plus species of concern
  2. Ecological Integrity
  3. Tourism
  4. Managing boundaries and human-wildlife conflict
  5. River and Wetland Conservation
  6. Communities, livelihoods and land use
  7. Emerging conservation technologies 

The forum highlighted the latest scientific insights, shared management experiences and outlined concrete commitments for 2026. It also showcased how collaboration between Kenyan and Tanzanian stakeholders continues to strengthen conservation efforts across the Greater Serengeti Mara Ecosystem.
